My Testimony

{The following is an email in response to the old Mission President.}

Dear President and Sister Preston,

I was most thrilled to receive your post the other day! Thank you so much for being so kind, and helping me further prepare myself to serve!
As you have asked, I will gladly share my testimony, my feelings about our Savior, the Restoration, scriptures, and my sacred call.

I know, with all of my heart, that this is thee only true church. This is Jesus Christ's church, and it has been restored in the latter-days. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever.  I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. He did see our Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ in the Sacred Grove.  I have been blessed to go there myself, and the peace I felt there can only be related to that of the temple. It happened. Joseph Smith was a truly magnificent man. He did, through the power of God, translate the golden plates into The Book of Mormon. I testify that this book is true. I have read it multiple times, studied it, and prayed to know if it is true. The feeling I receive, and the blessings that come are incredible. There is no truer book on this Earth that the Book of Mormon. I love the Book of Mormon so much. I also know, that Christ lives. He is our Savior and Redeemer, and I love Him. He is our perfect example, and I hope to follow His way. Jesus Christ did suffer for everyone's sins. He performed the Atonement, and only through Him can man be saved. I know that the Atonement is real, and man can truly repent of his sins. I have used it in my life, and through repentance I have been cleansed of my sins. I cannot wait to help others change, and see their sins change from scarlet to white. President and Sister Preston, I would like you to know that my mission call is most sacred to me. I have waited until I personally felt ready to serve God. It wasn't easy, seeing all my friends leave, but I waited. I have long had a love for England, for it is where my ancestors are from. It is, my homeland. While I was working on sending my mission papers in, I began to pray for my mission, my future companions, future mission president, and everyone that was in my mission. I thought about where I might be called, pondering how neat it would be to go where my ancestors are from, mostly England, Wales and Denmark. I continued to pray earnestly, pleading to Heavenly Father to send me to a more difficult mission if He needed me there. To be honest, I was a bit worried a few days before my call came. I was afraid I'd be disappointed, so I listened to an incredible talk by Elder Rasband, who speaks on how missionaries are called. A certain part stuck out to me, where Elder Rasband tells how President Eyring prays to know "perfectly where each missionary should go". My worry, faded, and peace entered into my heart. When I opened my call, such gratitude, much humility, peace and love swelled inside of me. I know, more than ever, that God is there. He loves us so much, and He knows the deepest desires of our hearts. I attest with President Eyring, this mission is perfect for me. I am beyond excited to serve. I love the following quote, "You've had eternity to prepare for your mission, and you'll have eternity to reflect on it. But you only have two years to live it." I intend to serve with all that I am, along with the great prophets that have been there. I am ready, to forget myself and go to work. I truly hope to serve this church in some way for the remainder of my days. I love this church. I testify that it is true, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

your humble servant,

Elder Bennett
